Austin Staffing is seeking an Aerospace Project Manager for a Direct hire position in Austin, Texas.

The Aerospace Project Manager ensures the completion of projects on time, within budget, and within scope by setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring progress of projects. The Project Manager/Controller is expected to troubleshoot, propose solutions to problems, and drive results. He/she will report performance internally and to the customer, including by making use of advanced tools such as EVMS.


  • Create and maintain project schedules throughout project lifecycles
  • Develop budgets and lead project teams to achieve financial objectives
  • Provide input to RFQs
  • Develop and manage risk registers for projects, including project risks, costs, and mitigations
  • Identify appropriate labor and non-labor resource demand
  • Partner with resource managers to allocate resources to projects in accordance with DPAS
  • Ensure customer requirements and specifications are appropriately captured and communicated
  • Minimize project scope growth through strong change control practices
  • Assess, calculate, and report Estimates at Completion/Estimate To Completion for projects
  • Manage jobs with government clauses including but not limited to DFAR and FARS
  • Perform variance analysis for actual results to the forecasting and budgeting reports
  • Manage Earned Value Management Systems for government contracts
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Manage the relationship with the customer and all stakeholders
  • Act as the interface with the customer
  • Perform advanced risk management utilizing risk management tools
  • Manage emergent issues including the development of mitigation and contingency plans
  • Assume responsibility for problem resolution and driving results
  • Report project status to management
  • Review and revise project management processes and procedures
  • Level load resources based on project priorities
  • Document and disseminate lessons learned of complete projects
  • Generate and submit contractual data deliverables in accordance with the contract
  • Additional Duties As assigned


  •  Uses advanced project management tools and techniques
  •  Ability to lead multi-faceted project teams of large size and see them through to completion
  •  Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies
  •  Ability to lead highly complex projects
  •  Knowledge of government contracting regulations including DPAS, DFAR, and FARS
  •  Able to complete projects in a timely manner
  •  Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  •  Strong Microsoft Project skills with complex projects and interdependencies
  •  Knowledge of specialist project management tools
  •  Ability to multi-task and manage various projects simultaneously
  •  Keen attention to detail
  •  Conflict resolution skills
  •  Advanced financial planning skills
  •  Understanding of basic financial accounting principles
  •  Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or a related field of study from
  • an accredited college or university required
  • At least six years of relevant experience in the aerospace/defense industry required
  • Strong experience with Federal Government Regulations and flowdows
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered
  • ERP system experience with an understanding of the entire project lifecycle
  • Experience running projects with Earned Value Management Systems reporting
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • Must be a US Citizen


  • Work is generally performed in an office environment
  • Travel is required
